The new RED HOT compilation Dark Was the Night is a must have on all levels. Not only does it contain rare and exclusive tracks from the who's who of Indie Rock and Folk (The Decemberists, The National, Iron & Wine, Feist, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver, Beirut, Arcade Fire, Andrew Bird, etc), but it's for a great cause too.

AND, if you're in the New York area you can see many of these acts LIVE ON STAGE together at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, May 3rd!

eat this, not that...

In my upcoming memoir, How I Got Fat, By Todd Sokolove, I will be pointing out the evils of a little diversion around the corner from my apartment known as Sullivan Street Bakery.

The fact that the bakery is on 47th Street, way far from Sullivan, should have been the first clue that I was to enter a deceptive point-of-no-return.

Sullivan sells baked goods from the tiny little shop between 10th and 11th, but most New Yorkers are getting their fix at any one of the many Dean and Deluca cafes. That's at least where I discovered the holiest of holy donuts - the jelly-filled Sullivan Street Bombolini.

Now that I realize I can get fresh, just made Bombolinis down the street from the source, I'll be sending in my application for The Biggest Looser in at least four weeks. Given the amount of product placement on that show, I'd be happy to endorse Sullivan St. in every episode!

the ORIGINAL cougar...

It should come as no surprise, but strangely it does, that Hulu has now posted the incredibly bad drama Moment by Moment staring John Travolta and Lily Tomlin.

It's one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies ever. Enjoy...

back in session...

I woke up this morning thinking that I had my 9:00am session with Laura, but then it occurred to me that:

a) she actually skipped yesterday's session

b) I'm not really a therapist

With three weeks to catch up on from Season One, I think I'm just now figuring out my obsession with in Treatment on HBO. At this rate of progress, I should be good to dive into the new season on my DVR.

ah to be a kid in France...

Been caught up here on the south of France for the television market, but I had to post this one-sheet that's all over town. It's for a movie called Le Monde merveilleux de impy.

They release way more animated films targeted for kids here, and while they may not be up to Pixar, or even Dreamworks standards, you have to admire the design of some of the characters. I mean, come on, that Panda kissing Impy is the cutest thing ever.
