greetings from floor one and a half...

Sunday brings Rachel and my yearly tradition of braving the mad crowds at the Macy*s friends and family sale. Best of all we promise a long awaited NEW PODCAST from the event.

This year though, nothing can stop me from visiting the funky fresh styles of floor one and a half. Not even Rachel.

we'll see about this...

moms dig enchanted...

As my loyal readers know, there's nothing better than a movie review from my folks.

For those keeping track Patch Adams was so good it deserved BEST PICTURE, Cuba Gooding Jr. was robbed of an Oscar for Radio, and now, according to my dad, I'm Not There is an indulgent, arty piece of crap not worthy of the life of Bob Dylan.

Better off seeing Enchanted, which I'm not even going to attempt to paraphrase my mom's review of.

Enjoy...

Todd I saw Enchanted yesterday with the kids and dad. I loved it! Definitely my favorite Disney flick.
It was a real old fashioned and new combo. You have to go see it. You will love the ending!
Dad is the only person I know that can sit through a Disney flick and not smile!! I don't think he wanted to be there!!
Sam fell asleep halfway as it was nap time. Jake liked it.

desperately seeking closure...

Talk about ironic retribution.

I spend the entire week in London, while my ex-girlfriend Rosanna Arquette was hiding her love away with Paul McCartney!

Sure I had called off the relationship with RA years ago, but she'll always be my big blue.

hate to say i told you so...

Note to anyone going to see The Hives on tour - the average age of the audience is 12.

Now, I've felt old at concerts before, but tonight's show at London's Hammersmith Apollo brought back many fond memories. Of babysitting.

When comforted by older audience members finally showing up, we were quickly brought back to earth upon realizing they were just there to chaperone their kids to the show.

At least the show brought young and old to their feet. But only for the fast songs.

See how many minors you can spot in the crowd...

finding nevergraham...

Today brought adventure in the world's largest Whole Foods.

Apparently, Brits don't eat graham crackers (which is weird since there are so many crackers here named Graham). They also don't know nothing about no Stove Top Stuffing, but we are thankful for our friend Shino who walked a mile to the nearest grocery store with an "American" section just to get both.

Most thankful indeed, as the turkey we bought today still had about 234 feather quills that Shino personally plucked out of the strange English bird. Now we can feast like true ex-patriots and dump their tea into the sink in time for pumpkin pie.

secrets of the lost tomb...

Today we checked out the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit at the O2, which may go down in history as being the only time the child king has shared the same home as the Spice Girls. Unfortunately, they wouldn't allow my cameras past the queue, but I did an interpretive dance from my experience at today's exhibit that I feel you'll enjoy...

Before my loyal Egyptian readers have a fit, keep in mind this is the same exhibit with The Tut Tea House...
And after having your mummified brains pulled out of your skulll with a hook, nothing says 'bless you' like this King Tut tissue box holder.Yes, the tissues come out its nose.

about face...

So, let me start by saying Rachel is right. Facebook is the new black. Within minutes of her convincings setting in, I was expanding my social network faster than Serena van der Woodsen can flip her hair on Gossip Girl.

By the way, it's been a crazy busy week and London is tomorrow's destination, so the blogging will continue across the pond.

In the meantime, check out the pics from this week's TIN MAN premiere. You don't have to have Facebook to view them, but while you're there, you may as well join us. join us, join us, join us join us, join us, join us join us, join us, join us join us, join us, join us join us, join us, join us join us, join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us join us, join us

who says romance is dead...

Seal has released his most dancable/upbeat album since his debut, which is a surprise since he's been toiling in downbeat, moody pop since Adamski put him on the map.

The new release System is a blast, but the song you have to hear is his duet with real-life supermodel wife, Heidi Klum called Wedding Day.

I'm pretty sure they won't be headed for Walk the Line territory with this gimmicky track, but she should get some sort of special Grammy for how well she channels Dido.

Download it here.

bring me the head of cumming...

Anyone who's been to my office knows it's become a museum of random props from past productions, so was with extreme giddiness that me and my office mates went ga ga over this week's strange arrival...

A large wooden box containing Alan Cumming's head
(insert joke here)
Officially freaked out?We made a little monster known as Tin Man for the Sci Fi Channel. Non-biasly, it's an amazing miniseries that takes a completely new approach to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Highly recommend it. Premieres on SCI FI December 2nd.

holiday movie preview...

Of all the holiday releases, I really can't wait for

AVPVH: Aliens vs. Predator vs. Heather
The bitch is back.

colour me kubrick...

As y'all know, I am a HUGE fan of all things Kubrick. So much so, that I'm not embarrassed to admit that I just purchased the third version of the DVD box set that Warner Bros. has released in the past seven years.

The first release of the box set had inferior transfers (done off of laserdisc masters that Kubrick never liked) and was released to cash in on the video release of Eyes Wide Shut. The second set remastered the films to Kubrick estate standards and is a definite improvement on the first release, but still wasn't perfect. Now comes this orgasm inducing edition that contains 2 disc deluxe versions of the films in the previous set, but with the exception of Dr. Strangelove,Barry Lyndon nor Lolita?!!!

As miffed as I am that not all of the films are in the set anymore, there's plenty to remasterbate to, including the uncut edition of Eyes Wide Shut and audio commentary tracks missing from every previous release.

More on the new DVD set in the coming days that I have time to watch it.

guitar heroes...

While the rest of the world seems to be playing Guitar Hero 3, I am perfectly happy getting my air guitar groove on to 80s videos on YouTube. Tonight I am Wang Chunging it, checking out the mean guitar moves on this video. I ask you, could Keytar Hero be far behind?

jive talkin' apples
fast talker bees...

Turn on your TV these days and you're likely to not be seeing or hearing things.

Wanda Sykes lends her voice as the jive-talkin apple for Applebees.

Ex Sonic Youth drummer (and Ferris Bueller parking garage attendant) Richard Edson tries to revive his career as "the human personification of risk" for Traveler's Company.

And Jerry Seinfeld lends his hands (and voice) to a series of HP ads. Unless George Costanza was his hand model.

flame on!

Last night we were almost attacked by the gayest Robin ever. And Robin is pretty gay as it is. There was also a gay Superman, a gay Green Arrow, and a gay hey, wait a minute. SUPER!
