Words just can't describe my excitement over Warner Bros. finally releasing Deadly Friend on DVD...

and then a hero comes along...

Right about now my friend Brian is probably in LA somewhere screaming "Yatta!!!!!" at the top of his lungs.

Way to go Brian, on your Season 2 premiere Monday night on HEROES. You played such a asshole! It was just a matter of time before Mr. Bennet went ballistic on you.

so you think you can sing...

Sorry for the apparent confusing last post. It was in fact Craig's birthday.

Even more confusing is this gathering of white folks butchering Erykah Badu, Neneh Cherry, and They Might Be Giants during the celebration...

the horror...

You know you're old when your friends bring you to Rocky Horror on your 35th birthday and you fall asleep! Now, although Craig always falls asleep when I drag him to midnight movies, it takes skill to sleep through rice, water, toast, toilet paper, and decks of playing cards being thrown at you.

More confirmations of being too old for Rocky included

• Complaining at 12:10 when the movie hadn't actually started.

• Instantly realizing that the average age of the audience was 16.

• Actually being alive when the film premiered.

• Not being able to remember what my favorite color is or where I buy my drugs.

• Being able to recall the original theatres that hosted RHPS are now a snobby art house, a gay video store, and an NYU study hall, respectively.

• Finding some of the content of the movie, which you've seen at least 500 times, a little inappropriate.

• Pulling a muscle while doing the Time Warp.

• Finding yourself strangely attracted to Barry Bostwick for the first time ever.

white guys can't dance...

Far be it from me to know anything about the latest dance moves. I just learned how to Krump last year.

Nevertheless, I do know about this crazy new dance craze called Tecktonik, which is basically like Voguing, but faster and more annoying because it's French.

It reminds me of the dance routines I would do to the Cars' "Shake it Up" at the age of 8 for my family. They would just sit on the couch and stare at me asking what the hand movements had to do with the dancing. Man, did they so not get it.

I don't have a video of that moment in my life, but I give you Tecktoniking below...

local legend...

R.I.P.
"Shakey" Jake Woods
?- 2007

Anyone who is from the Ann Arbor, Michigan area will be sad to hear that this local legend has passed on.

Shakey Jake was a local legend, hero, and personality in my hometown ever since I can remember.

This is as close as he'll get to an A&E Biography special...

Beware of the McDonald's Angus Burgercast
BEWARE OF THE BABYLON

BEWARE OF THE BABYLON is live on tape this week
eating McDonald's outside the Newscorp headquarters in midtown.

Consumerist ranting and raving in this episode:

* Taste-testing the new McDonald's Angus Burger.

* Marc Jacobs hot new Mouse Shoes - worth every penny.

* Career advice for Britney Spears, and Todd.

* Holding out for a hero, or at least some novocaine.

* Why the Weiss family pets last longer.

As always, this, and EVERY, BEWARE OF THE BABYLON podcast can be automatically downloaded from iTunes.

OR, just listen right here and now with the audio player below...

too late Seth...

I love Seth Green, but this joke was funny, like, the first 300 times on YouTube...

macys day...

Macy*s is apparently high fashion, and this year's Emmy Awards is apparently the place to find all those hot new fashions, or something.

They just showed this commercial where today's top names in fashion are shown getting all their latest threads together all just for you.

Now, I love a good trip to the Macy*s on a Sunday, but that ad was ridiculous and everyone in the ad knows it. Well, except Usher. He looked like he was having too much fun.

la femme mange comme un porc...

I loves me some Rosetta Stone langauage lessons. I've brushed up on my French faster than any book or French teacher ever helped me to before.

Best of all, there are these CRAZY-ASS photos that look like they're out of a Mentos commercial from 1988.

My all time favorite though is this one...

Driving while eating le big mac. She must be American.

i've just seen a film...

Finally, the first brilliant movie of 2007. Across the Universe is funny, heartbreaking, entertaining, creative, mind-blowing, silly, smart, crazy, cool, moving and amazing. Just like the music that inspired it. See it at once...

tron 2.0...

So the folks at Disney have FINALLY given the green-light to a sequel to Tron, one of my all time favorite movies.

Hollywood Reporter was nice to point out that the Video Game spin off from the movie actually made more money than the film itself.

Yeah, but that Discs of Tron game sucked monkey ass.

By the way, I CAN NOT WAIT to see this live when it comes to New York...

comic relief...

taxi driver...

While Jodie Foster preps her Taxi Driver vengeance film The Brave One, female power gets one more "you go girl" wih the release of old pal Melissa Plaut's first book, Hack now available at bookstores everywhere.

Speaking of everywhere, Melissa's been published in the New York TImes, written about in USA Today and interviewed in the New York Press!

Did I ever mention that Rachel and I were in the Wall Street Journal? Ok, so we have a little catch-up to do.

shitty library selecion...

I use the New York Public Library like most people use Netflix, except that mine is free and i have to wait in line to pick up the DVDs.

When I did an online search for a copy of John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus I instead was treated to this bestseller for some reason...

Honestly, I'm a little tempted to check it out.
Good bathroom reading I bet.

when life hands you lemon...

An instant smile was brought to my face upon discovering the new issue of LEMON.

This third issue of the newly launched design/culture magazine is completely devoted to the imagery and art of Stanley Kubrick.

Herein contained are interviews with Malcolm McDowell, Leelee Sobieski, Matthew Modine, and Jack Kirby.

Best of all are the layouts in pullout posters and a paper disc pressing of Gavin Friday performing “Singin’ In The Rain” (which you can also download for free here).

Buy one at once my brothers. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Luciano Pavarotti
1935-2007

My all time favorite Pavarotti moment....

no training (wheels) required...

Some highlights from my bike trip:

• Blasting Bloc Party from my speakers in Amish community.

• Traditional first lunch of Sloppy Joes at a VFW post.

• Gnarly wipe out during the first mile from not knowing how to unlock my shoes.

• Surreal elk conservatory in the middle of third night campsite.

• The Key Lime/Cherry Muffins at Sweetie Pie Pantry in Dewitt.

• My 4 year old nephew riding the last mile of the ride with us.

american flyers...

Sorry for the brief hiatus from posting, but I've been on a bike for the past four days, touring the great lake state of Michigan. My motley crew has included my brother, my dad, two of his old police partners, an air-traffic controler, and a female Air Force fighter pilot amongst others. Back to the big apple and reality today. More stories (and photos) on the trip to follow soon.
